This is Not a Travel Show: The Truth Behind the Journey

Exploring Identity, Culture, and Transformation—One Step at a Time.

Travel has always been more than just about the places we visit. It's about the experiences we have, the people we meet, and the ways we change in the process. It’s about peeling back layers of culture and history to understand who we really are in this wide, complex world. But let’s be real—too often, travel content is sanitized, packaged, and sold back to us in neat little bites. It’s glossy, it’s filtered, and it’s a little too perfect.

Well, here’s the thing: This is Not a Travel Show—and that’s the point.

This is a show about real life, not just the beautiful vistas or perfectly curated Instagram photos. It’s about the messiness, the contradictions, and the unexpected moments that make the journey worth taking. It’s about digging deeper into the places and people I’ve encountered, exploring what it really means to belong, and how traveling can unearth parts of ourselves we didn’t know existed.

What to Expect

On April 28th, I’m bringing you a different kind of travel show—one that goes beyond the surface. Through raw, unfiltered storytelling, we’ll dive into the history, culture, and personal reflections that shape our worldviews. I’m not here to tell you about the next destination you need to check off your list. Instead, I want to tell you the stories behind the places.

Each episode will unfold as an exploration of identity, culture, history, and personal growth—the things that travel often fails to capture. I’ll share my journey as I transition from living in Kenya back to the U.S., unpacking the deep internal shifts that come with it. But it doesn’t stop there. The show will also highlight the voices of others in the global community—Black travelers, artists, and creatives—who are navigating their own journeys and telling stories that often go untold.

We’ll be diving into themes of self-expression, colonialism, diaspora, and personal transformation. This is not about the “must-see” tourist spots. This is about the lived experiences that shape us, the connections we make, and the **redefinitions of what “home” and “belonging” truly mean.

Why It’s Different

The beauty of “This Is Not a Travel Show” lies in its authenticity. There’s no polished narrative or influencer-perfect moments here. What you see is what you get. And what you’ll get is raw, real content that challenges typical travel narratives.

As a Black expat, my journey has been anything but conventional. I’ve lived in different corners of the world, learning more about myself and the world with each step. This show is as much about the places I’ve left behind as the ones I’m discovering. It’s about what it means to be both grounded and unrooted, feeling out of place yet at home in parts of the world that feel both foreign and familiar.

This is not just a show about travel. It’s about redefining what it means to go somewhere—whether that’s a new country, a new experience, or a new version of yourself.

Get Ready for the Ride

This isn’t your average travel vlog. It’s messy. It’s complicated. It’s full of joy, frustration, growth, and new perspectives. And it’s coming to you on YouTube April 28th. So mark your calendars and get ready to go on this journey with me.

Through this show, I want to spark conversation, inspire curiosity, and build a community that’s here to embrace growth—both personal and collective. This is Not a Travel Show is a space for those ready to see the world a little differently and learn what lies beneath the surface.

I’m inviting you to take this journey with me so let’s explore, learn, and grow together. See you on April 28th.
